What Can You Use

This worksheet is designed to go with my Machines, Tools, and Inventions lesson plan.

Instructions: You have: a screwdriver, a ball of twine, chewing gum, a rock, a piece of paper, a coat hanger, and a hammer. Which tool or tools could you use to complete the following situations? Try to be creative and think about how many ways you could complete the same task with different tools.

1. To open a glass bottle?

2. Get a ring out of boiling hot water?

3. Keep the balcony door closed when you are outside, even though the handle is on the inside?

4. Stop a pipe from leaking?

5. Fix a nail that is sticking out of the wall and scratching people?

6. Open a jar that is stuck?

7. Get a coin out of the sewer grate?

8. Fix a crack in the bottom of your coffee cup?
